Research on the Applicability of Digital Technologies for Monitoring, Identification, and Early Warning of Excavation and Haulage Operations at TKV Open-Pit Mines

Abstract:
Excavation and transportation operations at open-pit mines under the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (TKV) are increasingly facing challenges related to rising operational costs, occupational safety risks, and environmental impacts,especially in the context of deep mining. In response to the demand for modernization and sustainable development, an integrated digital technology framework has been proposed, built upon key technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This framework comprises three core modules: performance monitoring and optimization (Artificial Intelligence), risk identification (Computer Vision), and safety warning (Time To Collision). The research results demonstrate that the implementation of this integrated digital framework can significantly improve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, efficiency, and sustainability. Consequently, the system contributes to enhancing competitiveness and accelerating the digital transformation of open-pit mining operations at TKV.
