Abstract:
The global trend in mining is to use active structures instead of passive ones. In the Vietnamese coal industry, underground mines have started using end-anchored or fully bonded structures combined with shotcrete or steel mesh, leading to increased excavation speed and cost savings. This has attracted research attention. This article focuses on the study of split sets, including their structure, working principles, and application conditions. The study also used numerical modelling to assess the effectiveness of split sets in stabilising the rock mass around the adit. The results demonstrated that split sets are effective in supporting the adit in the rock mass, offering immediate bearing force after installation, bearing force throughout the body, and a simple structure and installation technology
