Abstract:
After the Cam Thuy 1 hydroelectric plant stored water to generate electricity, a number of environmental problems occurred that affected the lives of some surrounding households. The environmental problems observed were thick bile, cracks in the walls of a house, and drainage problems in the household sanitation system, steep banks, and river banks. The effects were discovered during the early stages of filling the lake, in which incidents occurred in households in 3 communes of Cam Thanh, Cam Luong and Cam Thach. The work of surveying and studying the characteristics of soil and rock in the sediment layer shows that the high and low levels of lake water levels are related to the ground environment, cracked walls, and water levels of people's houses. The surveyed soil has a diverse composition, including a layer of mixed sand and vegetation, which is economical and favorable for storm water movement. When the lake water level rises and falls, it affects the stability of the soil layers, causing subsidence, landslides, and even cracking of people's housing walls. Research results show that surface water in hydroelectric reservoirs is closely related to groundwater in aquifers in the study area. The article analyzed and evaluated the influence of hydroelectric reservoir water levels on surrounding environmental phenomena, thereby proposing solutions to prevent and minimize impacts.
