Abstract:

The Bong Mieu gold mine is one of significant mines within the Tam Ky - Phuoc Son metallogenic belt. The mine consists of multiple subzones, including Ho Ray, Thac Trang, Nui Kem, and Ho Gan, and each subzones exhibits mineralization of different styles. The findings of this study confirm that the gold mineralization in the Ho Ray area is primarily associated with gold-rich skarn-type mineralization, in which exoskarn plays a dominant role, while endoskarn has a secondary contribution. The skarn formation and mineralization process occurred in sequential stages, including: (1) the thermal contact metamorphism stage (hornfels formation), (2) the contact metasomatic replacement stage (progressive metamorphism), and (3) the ore-forming stage combined with hydrothermal alteration (retrograde metamorphism). These correspond to four distinct mineralization stages: Stage 1 (Pre-ore stage) Clinopyroxene + Garnete + Quartz + Magnetite; Stage 2 (Synchronous ore formation) Quartz + Chlorite + Epidote + Amphibole + Sericite + Sulphides (Pyrit, Pyrrhotite, Chalcopyrite, Arsenopyrite, Bismuthinite) + Gold/Electrum; Stage 3 (Continued ore formation): Quartz + Chlorite + Epidote + Sulphides (Pyrite, Pyrrhotite, Chalcopyrite, Arsenopyrite) + Gold/Electrum; and Stage 4 (Post-ore stage) Calcite + Quartz + Sericite + Illite. The results of this study provide a foundation for further research and serve as a guideline for future prospecting and exploration of gold mineralization in the surrounding areas.
