Abstract:

The Phuoc Son gold mine is one of the largest mines in the Tam Ky - Phuoc Son ore belt. This paper presents the main geological and mineralization characteristics of the Phuoc Son mine, and the tectono-magmatic events related to ore formation in the mine. Research results indicate that magmatic activity in the Phuoc Son mine area occurred between 249 and 251 Ma, with adakitic and andesitic rocks showing potential for gold-copper mineralization. Gold mineralization in the region took place between 204 - 249 Ma, closely related to magmatic activity. The Cong Plong and Po Ko fault systems likely played a crucial role as conduits, allowing mineralizing fluids to ascend and concentrate, forming the deposit. The combined data on magmatism, tectonics, and mineralization ages suggest that the gold deposits at Phuoc Son are closely associated with the post-collisional stage of the Indosinian orogeny (approximately 260 -265 Ma ago).
