Abstract:

The use of TBMs for mining projects has not been wilhout its fair share of challenges. Any simplitied perception Ihat TBMs cannot be used for mining projects is false, as it is subject to geological risk. Theretore, wilhin the paper outlines the key technical issues that need to be considered for the use of TBMs for mining projects, the advantages and disadvantages of the use of TBMs, some minimum requirements for their use and some unique approaches for geotechnical investigations required for the Iheir use.
