Abstract:

Rock burst is one of the most serious accidents in underground coal mining. It causes extremely great damages. When a rock burst occurs, an enormous amount of energy is released and impacted on the roadway, causing the load on the supports increasing rapidly. When this load exceeds the critical load value of the supports, the supports will be deformed and breaked, causing serious damages of equipment and people. One of the current research directions in the world is to equip additional energy absorbers for supports. This paper presents the operating principle as well as the research situation of energy absorbers, applied for hydraulic supports use in underground coal mines to improve safety in use
