Abstract:
This paper presents the study results evaluating the feasibility of lowering the beneficiation lower size limit at the Dak Nong Bauxite Processing Plant, based on actual plant analysis and mass balance. The tailings survey results reveal that the +0,25 mm size fraction accounts for approximately 6,65% of the run-of-mine ore, with an Al₂O₃ grade of 43–44% and a silica modulus of around 10, meeting the standards for blending into the concentrate. If the +0,5 mm fraction is recovered by screening, the concentrate yield increases from 48,25% to 50,58%, equivalent to 66.500 tonnes/year, while the concentrate quality remains almost unchanged (Al₂O₃ decreases by 0,24%, SiO₂ increases by 0,02%). Based on the experimental data, the paper proposes three technological solutions to lower the beneficiation size limit. Among these, the optimal solution is the addition of a 0,5 (0,75) mm aperture screen, combined with adjusting the primary screen and reducing the cut size of the log washer to 0,5 mm. This solution requires minimal intervention in the existing processing circuit, entails low investment costs, but yields high economic and environmental benefits, aligning with TKV's (Vinacomin) strategy for maximum resource recovery in the 2025–2030 period
