Abstract:

Small-scale squirrel-cage induction generators are widely used in distributed wind power systems due to their robust structure and low maintenance costs. Accurately evaluating power flow and the impact of machine parameters is crucial for ensuring efficiency during direct grid connection. This paper presents a simulation model of a small-scale grid-tied three-phase induction generator developed in MATLAB/Simulink. The model enables a comprehensive investigation into how variations in machine parameters affect active power generation and reactive power demand. The outcomes provide a flexible and highly reliable simulation tool, establishing a critical foundation for the design, parameter selection, and operational optimization of small-scale distributed wind turbines.
