Abstract:
Until now, there have been many pieces of research related to surveying and assessing the wear and tear of parts on locomotives used in the Vietnam Railways (VNR), such as parts of diesel engine crankshaft - connecting rod assemblies, parts of the locomotive running gears, etc. For D19E locomotives, there have also been some studies on wear and tear of running gear parts, typically wheel treads, wheel flanges, traction motor (TM) bearings, TM collectors, etc. Nevertheless, the study of wear and tear of 3512B engine parts on D19E locomotives has not been able to perform so far. Therefore, the article presents research on the lifetime determination of CAT 3512B engine crankshaft assemblies on D19E locomotives according to the wear and tear of their parts in the operation on Vietnam railways, specifically at the Saigon locomotive enterprise. The research result is the reference basis for the adjustment of maintenance and repair (MAR) cycles of CAT 3512B engines in particular and D19E locomotives in general in the VNR.
