Abstract:

Currently, in Quang Ninh province, there are about 64 mine waste rock dumps of Vinacomin with total capacity of about 3,764 million m3, and up to now, the actual volume of waste rock has been dumped is about 2,885 million m3. The dumping is made according to the design and planning, but it is not possible to thoroughly limit the cause of environmental pollution, then affecting the daily life of people around the dump area. Currently, the environmental pollution situation around the dump area has been some improved, however, there is no overall solution for preventing the consequences of the waste rock dump induced by coal mining activities in Quang Ninh. The issue of recycling and reusing the waste rock of the pit mines is necessary to offer an overall and feasible solution to minimize the amount of created waste and minimize the environmental pollution. The orientation of reuse of waste rock contributes to reducing the pressure on the request of dump area, limiting the impact on environment and on people's health, meanwhile increasing economical and effective use of resources and promoting development of circular economy in Quang Ninh. This matter must be of more proper attention.
