Abstract:
Iron ore is an important raw mineral for the development of both industrial, technical and civil sections. The iron ore processing technologies are diverse: magnetic separation, gravity separation, flotation and magnetizing roasting... In Vietnam, iron ore is found mainly in the North Mountains and Midlands provinces; North Central Coast provinces. Kip Tuoc iron mine is located in Cam Duong commune, Lao Cai city, where there is an iron ore mining and processing plant of Minerals Joint Stock Company 3 - Vimico. This plant has been built and put into production since 2010. The current technology is magnetic separation combined with gravity separation (using spirals). The production process releases an amount of about 500.000 tons of tailing ore with a Fe content of about 14%. This paper presents the results of studying the material composition of the tailing ore samples from the Kip Tuoc iron ore processing plant. From there, technological solutions for recovering iron are proposed in order to improve the economic efficiency of the factory as well as take advantage of the mineral resources.
